Rickie Lee Jones Santa Barbara reviews
At thier best, in the worst of conditions.....
"This was my 3rd time catching Rickie Lee Jones and I must say, I've truly become a fan. The music is not only fantastic, but it emits a peculiar aura of joy to all who listen. I have never experienced such a high saturation of happiness at a concert. It felt like everyone had on wrist bands infused with joy-inducing substances, but the truth is their music, energy, and presence are simply delightful to witness. The show took place at the new Thompsons Point venue on Memorial Day weekend, a time when one might expect decent weather after a day in the 80s. However, having lived in Maine for 14 years, we've learned not to rely on the weather for much. The evening was a chilly 49 degrees with constant drizzle. Thompsons Point amplified the wind, creating moments where, with eyes closed, one could imagine being at sea with the band. Mike Olson was seen wearing fingerless gloves, and watching him and Bridget play their instruments was astonishing. I can only imagine Mike Calabrese's feet were cold, yet he continued drumming with a grin. One might expect a typical band to hurry through the performance or voice a complaint or two, but despite the conditions, Rachael and her team maintained a seamless show, spreading pure joy to all in attendance, making the experience all the more rewarding. I believe that night will be a lasting memory for many. Well done, Rickie Lee Jones, you truly Rock! Seize the opportunity to see them while you can."
